What is Primary Health Care?
  • Primary Health Care (PHC) isessential health care based on practical, scientifically sound and socially acceptable methods and technology made universally accessible to individuals and families in the community through their full participation and at a cost that the community and country can afford to maintain at every stage of their development in the spirit of self-reliance and self-determination.

    Save Uganda Foundation’s services provided under Primary health Care to the community are:-

  • Preventive

  • Health Education
  • Maternal and child health care plus family planning
  • Immunization
  • Safe water and sanitation
  • Prevention of communicable diseases
  • Treatment of common diseases
  • Oral Health
  • Nutrition and food production

Save Uganda Foundation’s current methods of promoting Primary Health Care are:-

  • Seminars and workshops
  • Use of village Health workers
  • Primary Health care Committees
  • Resource personnele.g. Traditional birth Attendants, Health workers etc
  •  Child to child approach
  • Use of schools and Colleges
